Guddu holds a permanent spot in our sanctuary, overcoming the odds despite facing abandonment due to his disabilities, a story shared by many of our beloved permanent residents. While Guddu radiates friendliness to all, he selectively bonds with a chosen few humans, and his firm boundaries are clear—touching is off-limits and comes with a vocal warning!

It’s a common tale for Indian mixed-breed dogs like Guddu. Their struggles on the streets often leave them without homes, making the fortunate few, like Guddu, who find a caring and permanent residence, stand out even more.

At BCS, we’re a haven for countless abandoned animals, shouldering the responsibility of their lifelong care. Many, like Guddu, come to us with unique needs and stories, left at our doorstep without a thought about how an NGO with minimal resources manages their well-being and lifelong support.

Meet Nandu – the Ajji/Naani of BCS!

If you visit us at the Blue Cross Society of Pune, you’ll likely run into Nandini, or as we lovingly call her, Nandu. She’s not just any dog; she’s the walking embodiment of joy, peace, and ageless wisdom.

Nandu plays a pretty important role at BCS – she’s the guardian angel for our whole dog squad. Newbies find comfort in her friendly vibes, and the old-timers? Well, they rely on her for that reassuring presence.

She’s seen it all, this wise one. Through thick and thin, she’s been there, watching BCS change, and witnessing the rescue of so many furry pals. Her existence is a living symbol of the pure love and compassion that defines us.

But hey, don’t be fooled by her warmth; Nandu’s got a no-nonsense attitude, especially with the young pups. She values her peace and has no time for fooling around.

Meet Slobber De Bob, a brave soul who faced a crisis with unwavering courage and resilience. His journey began with a swelling in his mouth, making eating a painful ordeal. His mouth emitted a foul smell, and pus oozed from the affected area, adding to his discomfort. Concerned for his well-being, a kind soul rushed him to BCS for urgent treatment.

Upon examination, the veterinarian uncovered a severe dental abscess wreaking havoc in his mouth. Slobber De Bob suffered from swollen gums, decayed teeth, and the agony of pus accumulation, leaving him in constant pain. The medical team swiftly took action, dressing and cleaning his infected mouth. However, a deeper inspection revealed that several teeth required extraction due to the severity of the abscess.

With courage in his heart, Slobber De Bob underwent dental surgery to alleviate his suffering. Most of his teeth were removed to eradicate the source of infection. Despite the challenges, he emerged from the ordeal with resilience and strength. Yet, within a few days, the abscess redeveloped, necessitating the extraction of most of the remaining teeth.

Despite these trials, Slobber De Bob’s spirit remained unbroken. Though he developed a mouth twitch and excessive drooling due to the extraction of his teeth, he embraced life with a gentle disposition. He loves to roam around, enjoy his meals, and even clean other doggy bowls with gusto. While his diet now consists mainly of softer fare, he relishes indulging in soft chewy treats, savoring each moment with gratitude and joy.
