Why Animals Rescues Matter?
Animal rescues play a vital role in saving strays and abandoned animals, providing them with shelter, medical care, and a chance for a new life. They work dedicatedly to rehabilitate animals, finding them homes and making sure that they are not abandoned on the streets. By addressing overpopulation through spaying and neutering, adoption programs, rescue efforts help reduce the number of strays, reducing the risk of diseases, accidents and conflicts in communities.
Supporting local animal shelters strengthens community-based animal welfare initiatives. Shelters often operate on limited resources and rely on donations and volunteers to continue their life-saving work. By backing Animal rescues, you help in managing stray populations and promote responsible pet ownership.
The Legacy of Blue Cross Society Pune
Since inception, over 1,00,000 stray dogs and cats have been sterilised (spayed/neutered), and thousands of stray dogs and cats are treated free and diagnostics such as X-ray and blood test are charged at very nominal costs. Our team is driven by a genuine love for stray animals and abandoned pet animals, reflected in every aspect of our work.
What Happens When Animals Are Rescued?
With animals rescues, there are several important steps in the journey from the street to safety. Initially, rescued animals are taken to a shelter or rescue, where they undergo a comprehensive health check to determine their condition. Veterinarians screen for any disease, injury or malnutrition issues, and the animals receive necessary treatments including vaccinations and parasite control. After a health check, the animals are spayed or neutered to prevent future overpopulation. The rehabilitation program includes socialization and behavioral training, to help the animals recover from any trauma and become more suitable for adoption. Staff and volunteers work patiently to restore their trust towards humans and prepare them for a loving home.
