Dog and Cat Vaccination Schedule for Indie Breeds

Dog and Cat Vaccination Schedule for Indie Breeds

As pet parents and animal lovers, the most important responsibility towards your Indie (four-legged) babies is to keep them safe from harm and guard them from any major illness, infection, or health condition. Just like bringing home a baby comes with a laundry list of checkups and vaccinations, similarly, bringing home an indie puppy or kitten has the same requirement- to keep them safe from disease and viruses with timely vaccinations and immunisation doses.

Why a Pune-specific Vaccination Guide?

As animal lovers ourselves and with the largest veterinary hospitals, our mission is to combat rabies and promote the health of both stray and pet dogs/cats in Pune. This is in conjunction with the global organisation’s endeavour to achieve the Zero by 30 target (a global strategic plan to eliminate human deaths caused by dog-mediated rabies by 2030). As you may be aware, rabies is a life-threatening disease that affects humans and dogs and is 100% vaccine preventable if treated immediately. Hence, it became a priority for us to create a vaccination guide for our animal lovers, caregivers, volunteers, and pet owners in Pune to keep track of their cat and dog vaccination schedule.

Vaccinations are life-saving. While every dog and cat has different vaccination requirements, there are some general rules you may follow to make sure your pets remain up-to-date. The most effective way to keep an accurate cat or dog vaccination schedule is to set routine meetings with your vet. Your veterinarian can determine which specific vaccinations your cat or dog requires.

During the monsoon season, if you notice anything out of the ordinary, like your pets excessively shedding, licking their paws, having skin infections, vomiting or diarrhoea, or having ticks and fleas, you are advised to take your pet for a visit to the vet.
