Introduction – Why Every Rupee Matters
The streets of Pune are home to numerous stray dogs who are highly prone to poor health, accidents, and illnesses. Blue Cross Society (BCS) Pune, one of the best veterinary hospitals in Pune, is dedicated to treating these helpless animals, from free sterilisation and vaccination drives to administering aid to dogs that are wounded or suffering from health conditions like gastro, parvo, tick fever, and so on.
Every contribution helps save a life. When you donate to dogs in need, you ensure these loving animals receive treatment, food, and a second chance.
A team of devoted volunteers feeds and treats stray dogs on a regular basis with the medical assistance of the BCS Pune hospital. The BCS Pune Mission
Over the last 20 years, Blue Cross Society of Pune, an NGO, has been committed to providing complete care to stray dogs and cats across the city. They also provided treatment to injured stray dogs, nursing them back to health.
There are several cases where dogs have been injured or ill, where BCS Pune has sprung into action to treat, save or care for them. Here are three such stories, highlighting just a fragment of the work BCS Pune does on an everyday basis to support these helpless and voiceless animals.
Dog Story #1 – “Lucky”: The Friendly Dog
Lucky, a friendly stray, was admitted at BCS Pune with a severe ear wound and had been suffering from this wound for a few days.
Once admitted, his treatment began immediately. Careful cleaning and dressing of the wound was done. The required medication was given to Lucky to ease his pain.
With daily medicines, dressing and care, Lucky’s wound began to heal. His ear was bandaged for better healing. In a month, Lucky’s wound had healed beautifully.
Once fully recovered, Lucky was released back at his location healthy, fit and happy.
With the help of your generous donations, we are able to cover the expenses of treatment and medications for dogs like Lucky.
Dog Story #2 – “Leena”: The Fighter
Maya, a young pup detected with parvo (a deadly disease), was rescued and rushed to us for medical help. Our medical team at BCS Pune provided intensive care, administering IV drips and vaccinations, to help her fight the infection.
With the help of your generous donations, we are able to cover the expenses of treatment and medications for sick dogs like Maya, and they can be treated without delay.
A friendly dog, Leena, was admitted to BCS Pune IPD with a hard growth on her right side of her abdomen.
This tumour was hard but not painful. After careful examination and a blood test, the vet deemed Leena fit for surgery.
The surgery was scheduled, and it went well. The tumour was removed, and Leena started her journey towards recovery.
Leena, being friendly, her post-operative care went smoothly. She allowed the staff to do her daily dressing and had her meds on time.
With daily treatment and care, Leena soon recovered. Her sutures started healing.
Finally, once Leena had healed and was fit, she was released back at her location happy and healthy.
With the help of donations, BCS Pune is able to cover the cost of surgery, medicines and post-op care for dogs like Leena.
Dog Story #3 – “Raja”: The Gentle Giant
Raja, a beautiful stray dog, was found with maggot wounds near his tail. These wounds were caused by a dog bite.
As Raja is very furry, onsite treatment was not an option
He was admitted to BCS Pune for his treatment. On admission, he was thoroughly examined, his wounds were cleaned, and his treatment started.
This gentle giant was very peaceful and would let the staff do the daily treatment without any fuss. With daily treatment and care, Raja’s wounds healed beautifully and he was fit for release back to his location. He was also given his vaccination shots before his release day.
On the day of his release, Raja was excited. Upon reaching his location, instead of running away, he paused to thank the team who got him back to his location after his treatment. It was a rare and touching moment, his face showed pure love and gratitude towards the people who got him back after his treatment.
Your donations to BCS Pune help us provide treatment to stray dogs like Raja.
We also conduct FREE Anti-rabies vaccination drives to protect street dogs from rabies. Anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) is also provided FREE to all dogs at BCS Pune OPD.
